Private in-home math tutoring · Grades 4–6 · Arlington & McLean
Algebra Ready provides private, in-home math tutoring for upper-elementary students who need stronger foundations, deeper reasoning, or more challenge. I assess and teach every student myself so the work stays focused on the skill that matters most next.
01 · Private math tutoring
More worksheets are not automatically better. The first job is identifying whether your child needs a missing foundation rebuilt, a misconception corrected, greater fluency, or more demanding mathematical work.
We talk about your goals, your child completes a math assessment, and you receive a written Math Game Plan. All three are free.
I come to your home and teach one-on-one using clear explanations, deliberate practice, and questions that require real reasoning.
We check the targeted skill again so you can see whether instruction is working and decide what should come next.
02 · What we teach
The goal is not to complete tonight's worksheet. It is to strengthen the mathematics your child will keep using in middle school and beyond.

Local service area
I provide 1-on-1 in-home elementary math tutoring across North Arlington. See the Arlington math tutor page for local details, schools served, and common parent questions.
I also tutor students in McLean. See the McLean math tutor page for the local service model and student fit.
You get a consistent teacher without another tutoring-center commute. I bring the assessment, instructional plan, and materials to the student.
Every Algebra Ready student works directly with Matthew McSpadden. The model is intentionally small so assessment, instruction, and parent communication stay connected.
Common questions
Algebra Ready specializes in Grades 4–6. That is the window where fluency, fraction understanding, decimals, number sense, and reasoning become especially important for later algebra success.
Homework can show me where a student is struggling, but homework completion is not the product. Sessions target the underlying skill or misconception that will matter beyond one assignment.
That can still be a strong fit. Some students need extension rather than remediation. The assessment looks at depth, flexibility, and readiness—not only whether a child is passing class.
